Nora Flucke is a Professor of Public Health at Fort Lewis College with a scientific focus on cancer navigation. Nora’s first encounter with the dark side of cancer struck when she lost her brother to leukemia after a mere nine months from diagnosis. At the time, her brother and she were 14 and 17 years old. After moving to Durango in 1995, Nora found fulfillment as a registered nurse, and later nurse educator, before pursuing two graduate degrees from the University of Colorado to further cancer research as a scientist. Nora has published her work in international peer-reviewed journals all while drawing inspiration from her friends and colleagues who fight cancer for and with their patients and loved ones every day.
