Lani trained with Guiding Eyes for the Blind and raised dogs for their training program. She has lived internationally and traveled extensively. She spent much of her life as a teacher and educator – from preschool through college-level. Her positions, spanning through 30 years, were as a counselor, administrator, and child-care manager. She was a facilitator for church support groups for single parents and worked as a consultant for the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance. Over the years she has hosted over 35 foreign exchange students while raising her children & working full-time. She has volunteered as a docent at Anasazi Heritage Center, worked with Seniors Outdoors, the ACS Cancer Resource Center, Durango Contra Dance, and hosts traveling Danish Gymnasts and Folk Dancers.
