Karen attended Fort Lewis College and has lived in Durango for most of her life. She received a master’s degree in counseling and worked as a Mental Health Counselor for 23 years. She went through a year of training in Clinical Pastoral Education and has worked as a Chaplain in a hospital and a nursing home. She completed 2 years of Theology schooling, and then was Assistant Pastor at the Methodist Church for five years. She now offers spiritual direction on a part-time basis. Through her various work environments, she has walked alongside many individuals dealing with cancer. She looks forward to working with the Cancer Support Community team members, and to offering support to individuals and their loved ones as they walk down the sometimes-challenging path of cancer.
