Charlie Speno Vice Chair

    Charlie has dedicated over 40 years to the healthcare field in Durango, working with the San Juan Basin Area Agency on Aging and Senior Nutrition Program, Sunshine Gardens West Assisted Living Community, Alpine & Harden Home Health programs, Four Corners Health Care Center, and in private practice counseling. His career spans from aging services administration and to human services management – and includes program development, coordination, and evaluation within a variety of settings in Southwest Colorado.

    While working primarily within the geriatric health community, Charlie’s experience encompasses community and regional services planning and needs assessment, non-profit agency administration, grant program management and fundraising. He has worked extensively with legislative advocacy, staff development and training, adult protection, Long Term Care facility administration and management, and home health services management. His background includes public relations, marketing, education, business administration and management, family care counseling and social work. While working as Director of the Durango Area Agency on Aging, Charlie was part of a core group that facilitated the development of the Seniors Outdoors program in Durango. Charlie has an intimate association with cancer diagnoses within his immediate and close family members.
